Named after Richard Andrews, the first man to have died in the war for the independence of Texas in 1835, the Andrews County was signed into existence in 1876. Andrews is home to more than 300 oilfields and is the third in the state for oil production, that it even pushed to be declared the oilfield capital of Texas.
