Carson County was established in 1888 and was named after Samuel Price Carson. Its only town at that time, Panhandle, was chosen to be the county seat. Carson’s economy is supported by diverse industries, including ranching and farming, petroleum, transportation and the Pantex nuclear weapons assembly/disassembly facility. Chief agricultural products include cattle, cotton, wheat, sorghum, corn, hay and soybeans, like other counties. There are lots of interesting events and celebrations in the county like the Groom Day festival and the Polish sausage festival!
