Delta County is a county located in Texas and its largest city, as well as the county seat, is Cooper. The county itself was founded in 1870 and was named “Delta” for its triangular shape. Francois Hervey was the first European settler in the area who passed through the area on his journey in 1750. The Caddo tribe was living in the area and had to relocate in the 18th century because of diseases and threats from other tribes nearby. Prior to the year 2015, Delta County was one of the nineteen counties that banned alcoholic beverage sales.
