Floyd County is a county situated in the state of Texas. The county’s seat is Floydada. The county itself was initially founded in 1876 and was organized in the year 1890. Dolphin Ward Floyd is the namesake of the county. He died on his thirty-second birthday on the sixth of March 1836 when he was defending the Alamo. The Matador Ranch that is situated in Motley County was once reaching into Floyd County. Some of the top tourist sights situated in Floyd County are Mabry Mill, Chateau Morrisette Winery, and Buffalo Mountain Natural Area Preserve.
