Garza County is a county located in the state of Texas. Post is the county seat of Garza County. The county is named for a pioneer Bexar County family because they lived in the area that is now Garza County. The county was founded in 1876 and was officially established in 1907. The oil was discovered in the county in the year 1926. A prehistoric Indian site was recorded at Cowhead Mesa in 1957, by Emmet Shed who lived in the county seat.
