Gillespie County is a county set on the Edwards Plateau in the state of Texas. Fredericksburg is the county seat of Gillespie County. The county was named for Robert Addison Gillespie who was a soldier in the Mexican-American War. Gillespie County was founded in 1848 after the petition was submitted to do so one year prior. The county itself was formed from Travis and Bexar counties. Some of the top sights situated in Gillespie County are the National Museum of the Pacific War, Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site, Becker Vineyards, and Pioneer Museum.
