Jack County was created in 1856 and it was named after Patrick and William Jack, both soldiers who fought for the Independence of Texas. It is the only county in the United States that is named “Jack”. The county’s production is mainly agriculture and ranching which has kept the population density low due to mechanization and modernization. A trip to Jack county wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Fort Richardson State Park and Historic Site. The county also has an annual Chilifest every November that is hosted by the seat’s chamber of commerce, so if you’re a big fan of chili, this is the place to visit.
