Jackson County was established in 1836 and was named in honor of President Andrew Jackson. This was one of the original counties of Texas. There are some notable sites to visit in Jackson county such as the wreck of the Mary Summers, a famous sidewheel steamer, the Edna Theatre, and the Texana Presbyterian Church. The county’s seat, Edna, is known as the “Flag City of Texas”. Jackson county is home to almost a thousand farms with a majority of them producing crops like corn, cotton, and rice. Jackson county also has a thriving petrochemical industry.
