Johnson County is a county located in the state of Texas. Cleburne is the county seat of Johnson County. Middleton Johnson is the namesake of the county. He was a Texas Ranger, a soldier, and a politician. Henry Briden was the first settler of the county. He built a cabin on the Nolan River. The log cabin still exists and is a great sight for tourists that can be seen beside State Highway 174 in Rio Vista. Wardville was the first county seat of Johnson County, it was then changed to Buchanan before it changed again to Camp Henderson. Camp Henderson was renamed to Cleburne for a Confederate General named Patrick Cleburne. Some of the top sights situated in Johnson County in Texas are Cleburne State Park, Lost Oak Winery, and Pirates’ Cove.
