Lamar County is a county located in the northeastern part of the state of Texas. Paris is the county seat and also its largest city of the county. Mirabeau Buonaparte Lamar is the reason the county is named the way it is. He was the second president of the Republic of Texas. The county was formed by the Texas Congress that occurred on the seventeenth of December 1840 and was organized the following year.
