The county of McCulloch, located at the center of the Texas state, was founded in 1856 and was formed two decades later. It was named after Benjamin McCulloch, a prominent Confederate general and Texas Ranger. This county is supplied by the underground waters of the Colorado River and San Saba River. McCulloch County depended on agricultural and ranching industries. It also features historical sites and landmarks such as the Old McCulloch County Jail, County Courthouse, and the Brady Depot.
