The county of Milam, located in the east-central region of the Texas state, was organized in 1837 and was named after Benjamin Rush Milam, a Texas Revolution warrior and a pioneer settler in the area. This county has been economically dependent on its agriculture, cattle-ranching, and oil production industries. It also features great historical sites and landmarks such as the Milam County Railroad Museum, where you can view a fantastic scale model of the “Old Town Cameron” and see its 40x30 foot train display.
