The county of Navarro, located in the north-central region of the Texas state, was established and organized in 1846. It was named after Jose Antonio Navarro, a veteran who was one of the signatories in the Texas Declaration of Independence. This county has been economically dependent on its manufacturing, oilfield production, farming, and ranching industries; beef cattle, corn, cotton, hay, herbs, grain sorghum, and wheat were its major agricultural products. It also features some interesting historical and recreational sites from Pearce Collections Museum to the Navarro Mills Lake. It is also home to Petroleum Park, the birthplace of the Texas oil industry. Its county seat hosts the Derrick Days festival every April. Furthermore, barbecue smokehouses, steakhouses, seafood houses, diners, burrito shops, pizzeria, Mexican and Southwestern restaurants serve this county.
