The county of Parker, located in the north-central region of the Texas state, was established in 1855 and organized in 1866. It was named after Isaac Parker, a Texas legislator who helped with the county’s establishment. This county has been economically dependent on its farming, ranching, manufacturing, and commercial industries; horticultural plants, cattle, horses, peaches, peanuts, pecans, and dairy were its major agricultural products. Its county seat celebrates the Parker County Peach Festival every July. This county also features numerous historical and recreational sites from the National Vietnam War Museum and the Doss Heritage and Culture Center to Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway, Chandor Gardens, and Clark Gardens Botanical Park. Moreover, barbecue smokehouses, steakhouses, pizzeria, Mexican and Southwestern restaurants serve this county.
