The county of Sutton, located in the west-central region of the Texas state, was established in 1887 and organized in 1890. It was named after John S. Sutton, a colonel of the Confederate. This county has been economically dependent on its ranching, hunting, and natural gas industries; meat goats, cattle, sheep, Angora goats, wheat, and oats were its primary agricultural products. It also features some interesting historical and recreational sites such as the Meier's Museum and Caverns of Sonora, and its county seat celebrates the Dry Devils River Music Flood every October. Moreover, barbecues, burgers, pizzas, and steaks are dominantly served in this area.
