The county of Upton, located in the south-western region of the Texas state, was established in 1887 and organized in 1910. It was named after the two brothers: John and William Upton, who both served the Confederate. This county has been economically dependent on its oil, wind turbines, farming, and ranching industries; cotton, cattle, goats, sheep, pecans, and watermelons were its primary agricultural products. It also features interesting historical and recreational sites such as the Mendoza Trail Museum and the dinosaur tracks that can be found west of McCamey. It is home to a few celebrations like the Barbados Cookoff every May, Kid rodeo each June, and Wind Energy cook-off and festival every September. Furthermore, barbecue smokehouses, steakhouses, pizza parlors, and Tex-Mex restaurants dominate this county.
