The county of Van Zandt, located in the north-eastern region of the Texas state, was established and organized in 1848. It was named after Isaac Van Zandt, a leader and member of the Texas Congress. This county has been economically dependent on its farming, ranching, and government services industries; beef cattle, nursery stock, hay, foliage, sweet potatoes, and dairy were its primary agricultural products. It also features interesting historical and recreational sites like the Purtis Creek State Park and Lake Tawakoni State Park. This county is also home to a few celebrations like the Bluegrass Festival and Salt Festival every June, and the Oil Festival every October.
