Williamson County is a county situated in the state of Texas. Georgetown is the county seat of Williamson County. Robert McAlpin Williamson is the namesake of the county. He was a community leader, but also a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto. The county is located both on the Edwards Plateau and Texas Blackland Prairies. The Comanche Indians left the area because of white settlers, but they didn’t stop raiding the county until the 1860s.
