The county of Young, located in the north-central region of the Texas state, was established in 1856 and organized in 1874. It was named after William Cocke Young, a veteran and pioneer settler. This county has been economically dependent on its farming, ranching, hunting leases, oil, and tourism industries; beef cattle, wheat, cotton, hay, pecans, and nursery plants were its primary agricultural products. It also features some interesting historical and recreational sites such as the Fort Belknap, and the marker in Graham where early ranchers structured the Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. Young County is also home to annual events like the Western Heritage Days and One-Arm Dove Hunt every September. Furthermore, Mexican, Chinese, and American cuisines are all being served in this county.
