Bosque County was established and organized in 1854 and named after the Bosque River which passes through the county. Situated in Central Texas, Bosque is mainly an agrarian county, having beef cattle, forages, small grains, and turkeys as its products. Meridian is serving as the county seat, while its largest city, Clifton, is the cultural and financial center. Recreation in the area includes scenic routes, fishing and hunting, vising Lake Whitney and the Meridian State Park. Clifton also has a museum and hosts the Norwegian County Christmas Celebration.
