Ector County is located in the State of Texas. Odessa is the county seat of Ector County. The county was founded on the twenty-sixth of February in 1887 from Tom Green County and was officially organized four years later. Mathew Ector was the namesake of the town. He was a Confederate general in the American Civil War. Some of the top tourist attractions and sights located in Ector County are The Globe Theatre, Big Spring State Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Museum of the Big Bend, and Woodward Ranch.
