Fisher County is situated in the state of Texas. Roby is the county seat of Fisher County. The county was initially formed in 1876 and was officially established ten years later. The county was named for a certain Samuel Rhoads Fisher. He was a secretary of the Navy of the Republic of Texas and also a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The county used to be one of 30 entirely dry counties which meant they banned alcohol sales. Fisher now allows alcohol sales. The first railroad that arrived in the county was The Texas and Pacific Railway in 1881.
