Franklin County is a county situated in the state of Texas and its county seat is Mount Vernon. The county was formed from a part of Titus County in 1875. It is believed that the county is named after Judge Benjamin C. Franklin who was the first appointed justice of the Republic of Texas. National Register of Historic Places in Franklin County comprises two historic properties. Alcohol beverage sales were allowed for sale in May 2013. Some of the top sights located in Franklin County are Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Center of Science and Industry, German Village, and Columbus Museum of Art.
