Hamilton County is a county situated on the Edwards Plateau in the state of Texas. Hamilton is also the name of the county’s seat. James Hamilton Jr. is the reason why both the county and the county’s seat are named this way. He gave financial aid to the Republic of Texas, he was also a governor of South Carolina. The county was founded in 1858. Even tho the Anglo settlers came into the area, the Indians presence remained. In 1867 Comanche tribe attacked a school. Ann Whitney was the teacher, she helped her students escaped but got fell down after she was hit by eighteen arrows.
