Hardin County is a county set in the state of Texas. Kountze is the county seat of Hardin County. William Hardin is the reason the county is named this way. He came from Liberty County in Texas. The present Hardin County Courthouse that provides the region was built in 1959. The county itself is situated on the coastal plains of southeast Texas. The dense forests of the Big Thicket are covering the majority of the area of Hardin County. A part of the Big Thicket National Preserve is a national protected area. Some of the top sights in the county are Village Creek, Bragg Road, and of course the Big Thicket National Preserve.
