Kent County is a county located in the state of Texas and the population of 808 residents makes it the sixth-least-populous county in Texas. The county seat of Kent County is Jayton. Kent County was founded in 1876 and was officially established in 1892. Andrew Kent is the namesake of the town. He died at the Battle of the Alamo. Kent County is still one of six counties in the state of Texas that is entirely dry, the sales of alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
