King County is a county located in the state of Texas. The 2010 census reported 286 residents in the county making it the second-least-populous county in the state of Texas and the third-least-populous county in the U.S. There are no incorporated communities in King County. The county seat of King County is Guthrie and it is a Census Designated Place. The county was first founded in 1876 but it was officially organized in 1891. William Philip King is the county’s namesake. He died at the Battle of the Alamo. White settlers came to the area after The Red River War.
