Lipscomb County is a county located in the state of Texas. Lipscomb is also the name of the county’s seat. Judge Abner Smith Lipscomb is the namesake of both the county and the town. He was a secretary of state of the Republic of Texas. The county has five communities and the only unincorporated community located in the county is the county seat. Kiowa and Comanche Indians were the last Indians that inhabited the lands. It lasted all until the Red River War when they were forced to reservations in Oklahoma. The county was originally founded in 1876 and was officially established in 1887.
