The county of Mitchell, located in the west-central region of the Texas state, was established in 1876 and organized in 1881. It was named after Asa and Eli Mitchell, two pioneer settlers who served in the Texas Revolution. This county has been economically dependent on its agriculture and ranching industries. It features amazing historical sites and landmarks such as the Colorado City Museum, Champion Creek Reservoir, and the Lake Colorado City State Park where you can rent a kayak, camp, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of nature. Furthermore, barbecue smokehouses, seafood houses, food trucks, cafés, Mexican and Mediterranean restaurants serve this county.
