The county of San Patricio, located south of the Texas state, was established in 1836 and organized in 1837. It was named after Saint Patrick, or San Patricio in Spanish, the primary patron saint of Ireland. This county has been economically dependent on its agriculture, manufacturing, oil, and petrochemical industries; cotton, beef cattle, grain sorghum, and corn were its major agricultural crops. It also features interesting historical and recreational sites from the Lake Corpus Christi State Park to the Welder Wildlife Foundation and Park, where you can go hunting, birdwatching, or enjoy some water activities. This county is also home to annual events such as the Windfest, Go Texan Days, Shrimporee, Round-Up Days, and cook-offs. Furthermore, barbecues, tamales, and hot sauces are dominant in this area.
