The county of Schleicher, located in the west-central region of the Texas state, was established in 1887 and organized in 1901. It was named after Gustav Schleicher, a politician, surveyor, and founder of the German colony. This county has been economically dependent on its oil, ranching, and hunting industries; beef cattle, sheep, goats, and some cotton were its major products. It also features interesting historical and recreational sites from the Schleicher County Historical Museum to the Caverns of Sonora. It is also home to various rodeo events and an annual livestock show. Moreover, barbecues, pizzas, and steaks are dominantly served in this area.
