Carnitas Cook-Off

Grand Prize – $250 in FREE Groceries, Traeger Ironwood 885 Grill (Valued at $1,500), 2 bags of Kingsford Charcoal
2nd Prize – $200 in FREE Groceries, Kingsford Canopy, 2 Bags of Kingsford Charcoal, Small Cooler
3rd Prize – $100 in FREE Groceries, Kingsford Grilling Gloves, Kingsford BBQ Tool Set,1 Bag of Kingsford Charcoal, Kingsford Swag, and Tumbler.
Contestants:
Contestants will need to bring their best Carnitas for judging accompanied by their favorite chips, salsa, and any add-ons. Highly encouraged but not required would be to also decorate your presentation and add in any other complimentary items as well. Contestants will need to make enough Carnitas to serve to each of the three Judges for judging and possibly a second time in the event of a tie. Contestants are welcome to spice the Carnitas up by adding some of their favorite Salsas, Jalapeno, or Tomatillos! This is a fun-spirited competition that should be taken lightly. So come ready to bring your best Carnitas and have a good time!!
Judging:
Judged by a panel of local judges (e.g. store director, high school principal, local DJ, etc.) based on TASTE, AROMA, APPEARANCE, TASTE, AND OVERALL from 12 pm – 3 pm. Each judge will receive a scorecard that lists the below criteria.
Carnitas will be ranked using a 1 to 4 scale where “4 is fabulous” and “1 is neutral.”
Judges’ decisions are final on all matters relating to this judging.
In the event of a tie, tied contestants will be re-judged
The contestant with the highest score will win the competition and be awarded the grand prize. 2nd and 3rd place winners will also receive a consolation prize each.
