Free
Celebrate the incredible honeybee at the Vista ranch on Saturday, July 22, with a family-friendly event presented by the Hays County Beekeepers Association and Vista Brewing. This community gathering aims to raise awareness and funds for the HCBA's Youth Scholarship & Mentoring Program, teaching young people aged 10-18 about natural and sustainable beekeeping. The event is packed with exciting activities, including honey tastings from various apiaries in Hays County, live honey extracting and spinning demonstrations, and an observation hive where you can see active honeybees up close. From 12 PM to 4 PM, enjoy honey-themed food specials from the Vista Grill, engage in kids' activities like scavenger hunts and coloring sheets, and take a guided walk to the Vista apiary. You'll also learn how to render pure beeswax using a solar melter and have the chance to taste Hive Mind Honey Ale, a collaboration between Vista Brewing and local beekeepers. The event culminates with the release of the 2023 harvest from Vista's onsite apiary, featuring all-natural comb honey and raw honey. Come and join local partners like the Hays County Beekeepers Association, Sister Creek Hives, BeeMindful, Saint Abi's Bee Supply, and Hunter's Hive Candles, who will be onsite to share valuable information about beekeeping and honeybee health. Vista Brewing, situated in the beautiful Hill Country town of Driftwood, is committed to supporting honeybees with their onsite apiary and wildflower planting. So, save the date and be part of this delightful celebration of honey and the hardworking honeybees that make it possible!
