The Briggs unincorporated community is found in Burnet County in the US state of Texas. It lies northeast of Burnet along FM 2657 and US Route 183. Although unincorporated, Briggs has a post office whose ZIP code is 78608. According to the 2000 census, Briggs’ population was 279 at the time. The community was originally known as Springs but soon changed the name to Gum Springs. The first settler in the area was W. T. Gann, a Missourian who arrived here in 1855. However, Briggs was founded late 19th century along the Berry Creek. A post office was established in the community in 1888.
