The US unincorporated community of Ace is located in Polk County in the state of Texas. The community’s population was estimated at 40 in 2000. Although Ace is unincorporated, its residents enjoy the services of a post office whose ZIP code is 77326. Ace was established by Samuel C. Hiroms in 1830. The community was named Smithfield, after Robert Smith, an early settler in the area. Some Coushatta Indians lived not so far from here. Smithfield was located about one mile south of where Ace lies today. The town moved to its current location in 1840 and became a landing of steam boats on the Trinity River.
