The US city of Allen is located in Collin County in the state of Texas. It was named in honor of a railroad promoter and state politician known as Ebenezer Alen. It is a suburb of Dallas to the north. The city’s population was estimated at 84,246 as per the 2010 census. By 2018, it had grown to about 103,000. The city is about 20 miles north of Dallas. Allen’s first water station was built in 1874 to serve the railroad. The present-day Allen city was originally inhabited by Comanche and Caddo, among other indigenous people. The first European and US immigrants arrived in the city in the 1840s.
