The Alleyton incorporated community is located in Colorado County in the US state of Texas. The present-day Alleyton was first inhabited by Rawson Alley, son to Thomas Alley, born in 1793. Rawson later surveyed the land that became the headquarters of Stephen Austin’s colony. As one of the old 300 of Austin’s colony, Rawson was granted one and a half leagues of the land that would become Alleyton. His brothers William, Thomas, John, and Abraham arrived in Alleyton to join Rawson a year later. By 1859, a railway had been extended to meet the Alleys’ property. William offered a portion of his land to extend the railroad and build a town center.
