The US city of Alvin is located in Texas State in Brazoria County. The city’s population estimate from the 2010 census was 24,236. Alvin is famous for Baseball, with Nolan Ryan, a great baseball player, having carried the city’s flag high. Nolan moved into Alvin in 1947 with his family and lived there until 2003 when he moved to Round Rock. The first settlers in the city arrived in mid-19th century and established bull ranches there. The original name for the city was Morgan in honor of a railway employee Alvin Morgan. They changed to Morgan’s first name, Alvin, upon realizing that Morgan had been taken.
