Angleton city is found in Brazoria County in Texas State, US, where it serves as its county seat. It is also the 14th congressional district. The city was founded in 1890 and named after Velasco Terminal Railway’s general manager’s wife. A bitter rivalry for the Brazoria County seat then emerged between the city and Brazoria. Angleton emerged victorious in 1896. A 1913 county-wide election saw Angleton re-chosen against Brazoria once again as Brazoria County’s seat. Angleton was incorporated in November 1912. As Brazoria County’s county seat, Angleton hosts the largest county fair in Texas every October — the Brazoria County Fair.
