Apple Springs, the small unincorporated community, is located in Trinity County in Texas State. The town is believed to have acquired its name from a spring nearby, where May apples luxuriantly grew. It was founded shortly after the Civil War. Since 1884, the town has enjoyed the services of a post office. Apple Springs has only two schools: Apple Springs High School and Apple Springs Elementary School. The two have progressed well with the district’s school receiving an "Academically Acceptable" rating from TEA (Texas Education Agency) in 2004 and 2005. Apple Springs High School was recognized in 2002 by the Texas Monthly as one of the top ten high schools in the entire Texas.
