Aquilla City is found in Hill County in Texas. According to the 2010 census, Aquilla’s population stood at 109 in 2010. Settlers began arriving in Aquilla in the 1840s. Th area was an attraction to settlers because the area had plenty of timber. The city’s original settlement was known as Mudtown. The city was named after Aquilla Jones, one of the earliest settlers in the area. The first post office in the town was built in 1859. In1886, Aquilla’s population was 175, which decreased to 100 in 1892. The decrease in population was attributed to drinking from the creek water.
