Argyle town is found in Denton County in Texas. Its population was estimated at 3,282, according to the 2010 census. The first European settlers in Argyle arrived in the 1850s. At the time, the place was called Waintown or Pilot Knob. The settlement then started to acquire a few amenities. They included a school —built in 1875 — and a Baptist Church — built in 1876. Later, a post office was built in the area in 1878. In 1881, after a railroad passed through the area, the community was officially founded and its name changed to Argyle after a garden in France.
