The US city of Bailey is found in Fannin County in the state of Texas. The 2010 census reported the city’s population as 289. This was an increase from the 213 reported in 2000. Bailey was founded in the late 1850s when several farmers settled due to its rich soil. They mainly grew corn and cotton. When it was time to give the town a name, there was competition between Doctors A. J. Ray and Josiah Bailey, the owners of the land that would become the townsite. This dispute was resolved in in 1885 when the St. Louis Southwestern Railway decided to use Bailey’s land for its right-of-way.
