The unincorporated community of Barker is found in Harris County in the US state of Texas, along the Interstate 10 on the west of Downtown. The town was named after Ed Barker. By 1895, rail operations had started in the area with the completion of the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad. The town got its first appointed postmaster in 1898 while still in its initial years of establishment as an agricultural community. The area is endowed with beautiful sceneries that make it a preferred tourist destination by many. These include the Bear Creek Pioneers Park, Terry Hershey Park, and the Edith L. Moore Sanctuary.
