Bastrop city is found in the Greater Austin metropolitan area and sits along the Colorado River. The 2010 census showed that the town had a total population of 7,218. The city was originally a courthouse with a hotel, general store and stockade. The Texas Historical Commission named it Texas’ Main Street due to its beautiful and attractive street life. Bastrop is also home to the popular Quaint Restaurants that have given its hospitality industry a world-class rating. The four most prominent organizations employing the city’s locals are the H-E-B, the Bastrop Independent School District, the Bastrop County Government, and Wal-Mart.
