Located at the Texas-Mexico border, the Big Bend National Park is a popular tourist destination. It is found in southwest Texas and includes a large part of the Chihuahuan Desert and the whole Chisos mountain range. It is among the most protected areas in the US. It has over 1,200 unique plant species, 75 mammal species, 450 types of birds, and 56 different kinds of reptiles. Some rare features in the park include the dinosaur bones, sea fossils, and volcanic dikes. The park is also endowed with a rich cultural and historical heritage ranging from archaeological sites that date back to over 10,000 years to the more recent ranchers and miners.
