The Blanket town is in Brown County on the west-central part of Texas in the United States. This town is said to have gotten its name from blankets. According to the local tradition, Blanket acquired the name in 1852 after surveyors met a group of Tonkawa Indians. These Indians spread their blankets on bushes to dry after encountering a storm. The surveyors thus named this area Blanket Creek. In 1873, Sarah Anderson bought a piece of land to open a general store that would later host the first post office in the area. This town later became a stagecoach stopover point.
