Bloomington is a census-designated place along the state highway in Victoria County in the US state of Texas. In 1906, the area started as a train station due to the construction of Brownsville, Mexico, and St Louis Railway. The area got its name from Bloomington, Illinois, the original home of the first white settlers in the area. Bloomington established a post office in 1907. After the completion of a stretch in 1912 from Port O'Connor to Victoria, Bloomington took over as a critical crossroad point. Besides, since the discovery of oil in 1947, Bloomington has since been developing at an impressive pace.
