Boling is a US census-designated place (CDP) in Wharton County in Texas. This place developed rapidly in the 1900s during the construction of New York, Texas, and the Mexican Railway. Robert Vineyard surveyed the place and named it after his daughter, Mary Boling. In 1907, Boling had a school for black children who descended from enslaved ancestors. In 1925, oil, among other minerals, was uncovered, boosting the economic growth of this place significantly. The population of Boling continued to grow as the area developed. As of 1990, the economy in this place majorly depended on oil and other allied products.
