Bonham is a United States city in Fannin County in Texas. Settlement in this city begun upon the arrival of Bailey Inglish in 1836. Bailey was the first to secure a post office. John P. Simpson came into the picture and donated with Inglish; the legitimate townsite referred to as Bois d’Arc to encourage settlement. Bonham was a strategic point of Agriculture during the civil war. The city played an important military role as the headquarters of Henry McCulloch. After the civil war, settlers opted for this place, boosting its growth. Bonham city had few people between 1855 and 1870.
